Learn,Unlearn,And Learn Again !!

There is this one quality of human beings, that is so powerful when they're kids, but slowly starts diminishing as they grow up-the quality of learning.Tell a 3 year old a method of doing a thing, and he/she will intensely observe it and try to learn the same.Try repeating the process with a 30 year old and watch them go all egoistic.Tell 10 new things to a bunch of 10 children, and they'll listen patiently.Try telling 10 new things to a team of 40 year olds, and they'll out-rightly ask how many of them are profitable to them.

When we're young,we obviously are devoid of knowledge and/or wisdom. And that's why we've this urge of knowing things.Children want to learn, they want to learn everything. They want to learn about science, and they want to learn about philosophy. They want to apply physics in reality, and they want to act in a shakespeare'n play. They have this passion of wanting to know anything, everything. The field of concerned knowledge, the subject, its applications etc are some aspects alien to them, about which they obviously don't care about. All they know,is that, they are curious about everything in the world, and they want to know how things work, irrespective of how many of them will actually be helpful later in life.

But as a child grow up into an adult,he/she slowly starts understanding that's its almost impossible to learn everything in the world, and futile too,and that is why everyone just pick up a field of their choice and tries to attain mastery in it.Sometimes they succeed in their try, sometimes they fail. That is the thing about knowledge, you cannot have it all, even in your own field, but still, you can still gain a lot part of it,and you should always be hungry for whatever you can possibly have, which maximum children are, maximum adults aren't.

Like I said, when people are young, they're devoid of knowledge,or have very little. And that is why they're always in search to acquire more. They don't have arrogance, but innocence, because probably in the society we live in,arrogance is often directly proptional to knowledge, which they are short of.And as people grow up,this sense of superiority comes in place of that curiosity, arrogance in place of innocence which stops them from asking about new things, which prevent them from learning new things . Don't believe me ? Go tell your boss about some industry knowledge you have which probably he/she doesn't,and see them snapping and asking you "So you think you know more than me ?".You get the drift, right ?

See I am not asking to go all crazy after Wikipedia,or that you should probably start reading accounts even if you're a doctor.I am just trying to convey that even if you're a CEO of a company which is making profits in billions, you should be always open to news sources of knowledge. One should not try to run away from new facts, methods just because they are of no use to them. That one should not stop learning just because he/she is 70.

Knowledge is like a vast ocean. And even if we work in a particular field for over 50 years, there's no chance even then that we'll know 100 % of that field. We can know just a drop of that vast ocean, but never,never-ever the full ocean. And that is why we shouldn't be arrogant, because we don't know everything. In the dynamic world, each day new up-gradation comes in,and therefore,we need to be always in a learning format. And that explains why we should never develop superiority complex, because there are people out other more intellectual than us,working in a direction one step ahead of us,and are in a position to provide techniques we'll follow.

I read somewhere "Learn today.Lead tomorrow. " Although the statement isn't totally wrong, but don't you think that the learning process could and should go on even after the student years ? Basically learning isn't a thing that you should only associate with earning money, position and respect. Learning is a integral part of growing up intellectually, spiritually, socially, scientifically.Learning is an integral part of your personality.Learning is a process of a lifetime, majorly happening outside books. So if you want to grow in life, you should always be search of learning something new, just like a child.Because, just as stagnant water doesn't reach anywhere beacuse it stopped moving,a person who stopped learning will eventually become stagnant too.So keep flowing like a river,in search of your ocean, and naturally you will definitely end up uniting in it.And that's how you can be both of value and worth a lot.
